How to Add a Bookmarklet to Your Browser

Adding a bookmarklet to your browser is a simple process that allows you to use handy web-based tools quickly. Here's how you can do it:

For Google Chrome:

  1. Open the Bookmarks Bar:
    • Ensure your bookmarks bar is visible. You can toggle it by pressing Ctrl + Shift + B on Windows or Cmd + Shift + B on macOS.
  2. Add the Bookmarklet:
    • Go to the page where the bookmarklet is available.
    • Click and drag the bookmarklet link/button to your bookmarks bar.

For Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Open the Bookmarks Toolbar:
    • Show the bookmarks toolbar by pressing Ctrl + Shift + B on Windows or Cmd + Shift + B on macOS and ensuring the "Bookmarks Toolbar" is checked under the "Toolbars" menu.
  2. Add the Bookmarklet:
    • Navigate to the page with the bookmarklet.
    • Drag and drop the bookmarklet link/button to your bookmarks toolbar.

For Safari:

  1. Enable the Bookmarks Bar:
    • Make sure the bookmarks bar is visible. You can do this through the "View" menu by selecting "Show Favorites Bar."
  2. Add the Bookmarklet:
    • Visit the webpage with the desired bookmarklet.
    • Click and drag the bookmarklet link/button into the bookmarks bar.

For Microsoft Edge:

  1. Show the Favorites Bar:
    • Enable the favorites bar by clicking on the three dots (...) in the upper-right corner, selecting "Favorites," and then "Show favorites bar."
  2. Add the Bookmarklet:
    • Navigate to the webpage offering the bookmarklet.
    • Drag the bookmarklet link/button onto the favorites bar.

Note:

  • The bookmarklet is a small piece of JavaScript. Make sure you drag the link/button provided, not just the text.
  • If dragging doesn’t work, you can right-click the bookmarklet link, select "Add to Favorites/Bookmarks," and then manually place it in the bookmarks bar.
